The Australian Flute Festival (AFF) 2025 is set to take place in Sydney from October 3 to 6, offering an engaging and educational experience for flutists of all levels. The festival includes a full schedule of workshops, rehearsals, performances, and masterclasses, bringing together students, professionals, and educators from across the country and beyond.
Junior Day – October 3, 2025
The festival opens with a Junior Day on Friday, October 3, held at the Conservatorium High School. This day is designed for younger players and aims to inspire, connect, and develop foundational skills through a variety of activities, including:
- Tone development workshops
- Ensemble playing
- Rhythm challenges
- Practice strategies
- A concluding performance for families and attendees of the Professional Learning Day
The Junior Day is led by two highly regarded flute educators:
- Nathalie Resciniti, known for her vibrant and creative approach to flute teaching, with students receiving scholarships to top Australian schools. She currently teaches at Toorak College and Melbourne Flute Masters and participated in the 2024 “March of the Women: Connecting Australia” project.
- Kate Bergen, a distinguished flute teacher with an international reputation. She teaches at St Michael’s Grammar School, Firbank Grammar School, and The King David School, and trains teachers through the Pan Pacific Suzuki Association.

AFF Flute Orchestra
Another highlight of the festival is the AFF Flute Orchestra, which welcomes participants of intermediate to professional skill levels (approximately AMEB/ABRSM/Trinity Grades 4 to A.Mus and beyond). Participants must commit to the following schedule:
- Saturday, October 4: 8:30–10:00 AM
- Sunday, October 5: 8:30–10:00 AM
- Monday, October 6: 8:00–8:50 AM
- Closing Concert: Monday, October 6 at 3:00 PM
The Flute Orchestra will be conducted by Tim Munro, Associate Professor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and former flautist and co-Artistic Director of Eighth Blackbird. Munro, a three-time Grammy Award winner, is known for his immersive and audience-centered musical projects. He has taught widely in the United States and Australia and brings a wealth of experience in both contemporary and classical performance practice.
Masterclasses
The 2025 Australian Flute Festival will also feature masterclasses led by an esteemed international and national faculty:

Applicants selected to perform in a masterclass will be notified by Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Once selected, performers must confirm their place by paying the registration fee of $90 within three days to secure participation.
