Atessa (Italy), October 12, 2025 – The Inner Wheel Club Atessa Media Val di Sangro, part of the International Inner Wheel District 209, has awarded flutist, educator, and musicologist Vilma Campitelli the prestigious title of Donna dell’Anno 2025 (Woman of the Year 2025).

The recognition celebrates Campitelli’s distinguished career as a concert artist and researcher, and her ongoing commitment to supporting women in music composition across all eras. The award plaque honors her as a “flautista, didatta, concertista, attività in campo della ricerca e musicologia – sostenitrice delle donne nel campo della composizione di ogni epoca.”
The award ceremony took place in Atessa, in the presence of the Club’s President Paola Fanci and its executive board, marking an emotional and meaningful moment of appreciation for Campitelli’s contributions to Italian and international musical culture.

A Career Dedicated to Music and Women’s Artistic Heritage
Vilma Campitelli is a renowned Italian flutist, researcher, and educator, widely recognized for her efforts in rediscovering and promoting the musical legacy of women composers. Her career bridges performance and scholarship, highlighting the importance of inclusion and recognition of female creativity in classical music history.
In addition to her work as a performer and musicologist, Campitelli serves as Director of Women’s Musical Heritage at Flute Almanac, the global flute platform. She has contributed to every edition since its launch, publishing articles that explore the intersection of gender, history, and flute repertoire with remarkable depth and insight.
