The Flute New Music Consortium is set to host the Final Round of the 2024 Flute Artist Competition, aimed at recognizing and encouraging high standards of flute playing in contemporary performance on October 11, 2024 at University of Nebraska – Omaha.
Competition Overview
Contestants have submitted their entries to the recorded round by July 1, 2024. Up to four finalists have been invited to the final round, which will be held during the New Music Festival at the University of Nebraska – Omaha on October 11, 2024. The finalists will perform a repertoire that includes the premiere of a newly commissioned work for solo flute by Michael Genese.
Judging Panel and Awards
The final round will be evaluated by a panel of distinguished judges, including renowned flutists and music professionals. The competition offers a cash prize of $800 to the winner, who will also give the official premiere of Genese’s solo on a recital. This recital will feature the premiere performance of the latest consortium commission by Reena Esmail on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
