The 6th International Theobald Böhm Competition for Flute and Alto Flute will take place from March 10 to March 14, 2025, at Schloss Nymphenburg’s Johannissaal in Munich.
Organized by the Theobald Böhm Society and Theobald Böhm Donation, this prestigious event honors the legacy of Theobald Böhm, a pioneer in flute making and composition.
Aims: Commemoration of Theobald Böhm, flautist, composer, flute maker, inventor of the Böhm flute, Munich 1794–1881; promotion of his works in the new complete edition and honouring the best interpreters of Böhm; promotion of the alto flute in G (his later favourite instrument) and of the flute with open G sharp key (= original Böhm system)

- 1st Prize: 5000 EUR
- 2nd Prize: 3000 EUR
- 3rd Prize: 2000 EUR
- Special Prizes: For best alto flute performance and best participant under 20 years.
Participation Requirements:
- Open to flutists up to 32 years old.
- Registration deadline: February 15, 2025.
- Presence required on March 9, 2025, at the Max-Joseph-Saal.

Conditions of Participation: Age up to 32, registration up to 15 February 2025, Theobald Böhm Society, Ludwig Böhm, Asamstraße 6, 82166 Gräfelfing, Tel. 089-875367. Necessary documents: Biography with address, telephone and e-mail, recent photograph, copy of the identity card, programme, proof of payment of the registration fee of 100 Euros (including festival concert ticket, no reimbursement). Remittance to Ludwig Böhm, IBAN: DE34 7025 0150 0130 6572 73, BIC: BYLADEM1KMS (no cheques), no registration by e-mail. Presence is required on 9 March 2025 at 10.00 in the Max-Joseph-Saal (Residenzstraße, Eingang Kapellenhof) before the concert of the jurors

Commemorative Concert for Theobald Böhm’s 144th Anniversary
Join us on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM for a special commemorative concert marking the 144th anniversary of Theobald Böhm’s death. The event will take place at the Max-Joseph-Saal in the Munich Residenz (Residenzstraße, Kapellenhof entrance). Hosted by the Theobald Böhm Society and Theobald Böhm Foundation, this concert will feature works dedicated to Theobald Böhm for flute and piano.
