Vilma Campitelli, a flutist born in Lanciano (CH), pursued her musical studies at the Conservatory of Pescara, the Hochschule in Winterthur (Switzerland), and earned a degree in “Musical Disciplines” from the Conservatory of Campobasso, graduating with the highest honors, receiving a score of “110 cum laude with distinction.”
Her career boasts numerous performances both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, with concerts held across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, where she has garnered unanimous acclaim from both audiences and critics.
She has recorded for Edipan (Rome), Luna Rossa Classic (Lecce), and Fabrik Music (France), and has participated in various radio and television recordings for several RAI programs. She has also engaged in artistic collaborations in the field of theater.
Selected by the Adkins Chiti Women in Music Foundation (Fiuggi, Italy), she served as a “resident scholar” for the European project WIMUST, which aims to promote music and talent, repertoire, and strategies for the full implementation of the 2009 EU resolution on equal opportunities in every member state. In 2018, she oversaw the publication of the volume Compendium Musicae Flauta (Smasher ed.), the first comprehensive work on flute repertoire written by female composers. She has also published articles on the biographies of female composers and research in the field of experiential music.
Currently, she is a flute instructor at the “U. Giordano” Conservatory of Music in Foggia, at the Rodi Garganico section, Italy.
In recognition of her contributions, Vilma Campitelli has been awarded the 2024 Frentano d’Oro, an honor presented annually to an individual from the Frentania region who has excelled in fields such as science, art, culture, or music.
