The Austin Flute Society will host its highly anticipated Austin Flute Festival 2025 on April 4-5, 2025, at Huston-Tillotson University. This annual event brings together flutists of all levels for a weekend filled with performances, workshops, masterclasses, and flute choir experiences.

Underwood, a 2023 NFA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, is widely regarded as one of the foremost flute teachers of his generation, known for his expertise in breathing techniques and his influence on flutists worldwide.

Keith Underwood has had an illustrious career spanning over three decades in New York, performing with ensembles such as the New York Chamber Symphony, the Orpheus Ensemble, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and the New York Philharmonic. His expertise in breathing techniques for wind players has made him a sought-after educator at institutions like New York University’s Steinhardt School, The New School – Mannes School of Music, and Queens College – Aaron Copland School of Music.
In addition to his extensive orchestral and chamber music experience, Underwood has worked with a diverse range of artists, including Céline Dion, Kathleen Battle, Rod Stewart, Bobby McFerrin, and Anthony Newman. His influence as a flute pedagogue is evident through his international masterclasses and collaborations with leading flutists from top orchestras in the United States and abroad.
