From September 17–20, 2026, Belgrade will become an international hub for piccolo artistry with the 5th Belgrade Piccolo Weekend, hosted at the prestigious Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. Bringing together leading piccolo performers, teachers, and students from around the world, this four-day event is dedicated exclusively to the art, technique, and repertoire of the piccolo.
A Specialized International Event
Now in its fifth edition, Belgrade Piccolo Weekend has firmly established itself as one of the rare international events fully devoted to the piccolo. The program combines high-level masterclasses, an international piccolo competition, concert performances, and exhibitions, offering participants a comprehensive artistic and educational experience.
Set in Belgrade, a city with a rich musical and cultural heritage, the event takes place in the inspiring environment of the Belgrade Philharmonic—one of Southeast Europe’s most important concert institutions.
Distinguished International Faculty
The 2026 edition features an outstanding international faculty, representing different traditions, schools, and professional perspectives of piccolo playing:
- Elena Mitrofanova (Russia)
- Erica Peel (USA)
- Peter Verhoyen (Belgium)
- Snježana Pavićević (Serbia)
Through individual and group masterclasses, participants will work on tone production, technique, orchestral excerpts, solo repertoire, and stylistic interpretation — benefiting from the combined expertise of internationally recognized piccolo specialists.

Piccolo Competition and Concerts
A central highlight of the weekend is the international piccolo competition, offering young and emerging piccolo players a professional platform to perform, gain experience, and receive expert feedback. The competition reflects the event’s broader mission: to elevate the artistic status of the piccolo and support the next generation of performers.
Concerts throughout the weekend will showcase the piccolo in a variety of roles—from solo and chamber settings to larger ensemble contexts—demonstrating the instrument’s expressive range, virtuosity, and growing contemporary repertoire.
Community, Craft, and Exchange
In addition to performances and classes, the event includes exhibitions featuring instruments, accessories, and publications, encouraging dialogue between performers, educators, and makers. The Belgrade Piccolo Weekend is also a valuable meeting point for the international flute community, fostering collaboration, exchange of ideas, and long-term artistic connections.
The event is organized with the support of the Association of Flutists of Serbia, further strengthening Serbia’s role on the international flute and piccolo scene.
A Must-Attend Event for Piccolo Specialists
With its focused concept, high artistic level, and international outlook, Belgrade Piccolo Weekend 2026 promises to be a landmark event for piccolo players, teachers, and enthusiasts worldwide. Whether participating as a performer, competitor, or listener, attendees can expect four days of inspiration, excellence, and celebration of one of the flute family’s most distinctive voices.
