This prestigious biennial event honors the legacy of German-Danish composer Friedrich Kuhlau, born in Uelzen in 1786. It has gained international recognition for emphasizing flute ensemble categories, fostering creativity and collaboration among flutists.
Categories:
- Flute Solo: For unaccompanied performances.
- Ensemble Two Flutes and Piano: Highlights ensemble coordination.
- Ensemble Three or Four Flutes: Focuses on larger flute ensembles.
- Online-Category (2 to 5 instruments): For remote participants.
Eligibility:
- Individual or average age of ensemble members must not exceed 32 years.
- Maximum age for any member is 35 years; minimum age is 16 years.
Judging and Prizes:
- Judged by esteemed flutists and educators.
- Total prize money: up to €11,000 for Categories I-III, and up to €1,800 for Category IV.
