The Livorno Music Festival & Summer Academy, held annually in the Tuscan coastal city of Livorno, Italy, has announced the faculty and dates for its 2025 Flute Masterclasses, which will take place throughout August. The program offers advanced training for flutists within an international environment that blends high-level instruction with public performance opportunities.
Faculty and Masterclass Dates
Three distinguished flutists will lead the 2025 flute masterclasses:
- Andrea Manco (August 16–22, 2025)
Principal Flute of Teatro alla Scala and Filarmonica della Scala Orchestra. Flute teacher at the “Incontri col Maestro” International Academy in Imola and at the Teatro alla Scala Academy. - Jürgen Franz (August 22–27, 2025)
Member of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Hamburg and professor at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg (Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg). - Alice Morzenti (August 27–31, 2025) Principal flute in the Staatstheater in Nuremberg.
International soloist and chamber musician, recognized for her work in contemporary and traditional repertoire.
Each masterclass provides participants with individual lessons, chamber music coaching, and the chance to take part in the festival’s public concerts.
Performance Opportunities
Two major performance selections are available for enrolled students:
- Soloist with Orchestra – One or more students will be selected to perform as soloists with the Orchestra of the Mascagni Conservatory on September 6, 2025. (Application deadline: May 15)
- Performance with the Masters – Selected students will perform alongside their instructors in the festival’s main program. (Application deadline: May 31)
In addition, the absolute winner – whether solo or chamber group – will be invited to appear in the 2026 concert season of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, a notable institution in Italy’s classical music landscape.

- Applications are processed in the order received. Once the limit of active participants is reached, a waiting list will be formed.
- Scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding students.
- A 20% discount is offered on a second course for students enrolling in multiple masterclasses.
