The National Flute Association’s 53rd Annual Convention is scheduled to take place from Thursday, August 7, 2025, through Sunday, August 10, 2025. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta (265 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30303) .
According to the organization, the preliminary schedule outlines four days of programming, beginning on Thursday morning and concluding on Sunday evening. Events are expected to run throughout the day and into the evening, with a combination of sessions, performances, and ensemble activities.
Participatory Ensembles
The convention includes several participatory flute choirs, open to registered attendees. These include:
- Opening Flute Orchestra
- Melanin Rhapsody Flute Choir
- LGBTQIA+ Flute Choir
- Adult Amateur Flute Choir
- Closing Flute Orchestra
The Closing Flute Orchestra will feature world premieres by Jonathan Cohen, Tilmann Dehnhard, and Paige Dashner Long.
Concerto Concert
The annual Concerto Concert is scheduled for Saturday evening. Performers and repertoire include:
- Gaspar Hoyos – Introducción y Allegro by Carlos Guastavino, arranged and conducted by Ransom Wilson
- Julietta Curenton – selections from Niiji Memories by James Lee III
- Silvia Careddu – Flute Concerto in D Minor, Wq. 22 by C.P.E. Bach
- Magali Mosnier – Concerto for Flute in G Major by Claude Arrieu
- Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson – Concerto No. 2, Op. 142 by Lowell Liebermann
Ensemble and Youth Activities
The Flute Ensemble Festival will feature performances by selected flute choirs in various formats, including lobby concerts and showcases. Notification letters have been sent to applicants.
In addition, the convention will host a Youth Flute Day, a one-day program for flutists aged 9 to 18, offering workshops and activities for participants at all ability levels.
Background
The National Flute Association was founded in 1972 and incorporated in 1973. Its first convention took place in 1973 in Anaheim, California. Over the years, it has developed a range of programs and events aimed at flute players across experience levels.
