As the warm days of July unfold, many adult flutists are looking for ways to stay musically engaged, deepen their skills, and reconnect with their instruments – without the need for travel or intensive summer festivals. The Galway Flute Academy offers just that: a chance to grow, reflect, and connect through its Adult Learner Series – Part 2, led by the incredible and inspiring Lady Jeanne Galway.
A globally respected performer and teacher, Lady Jeanne Galway brings decades of experience, warmth, and wisdom to every session she leads. Known for her expressive artistry and her commitment to nurturing musicians of all levels, she has inspired generations of flutists around the world. These July sessions reflect her deep understanding of the adult learner’s journey – encouraging growth, confidence, and joy in music-making.
Taking place entirely online, these two evening sessions on July 17 and July 31 (7:00 pm CET) are designed specifically with adult learners in mind. Whether you’re a returning flutist, a dedicated hobbyist, or simply looking for meaningful summer enrichment, this series offers an enjoyable and accessible way to keep your playing fresh – and your musical spirit nourished.

Session One – Let’s March…
🗓️ 17 July, 7:00 PM (CET)
In this lively and rhythm-centered session, Lady Jeanne explores the often-overlooked benefits of marching while playing. Not only is it a fun and engaging activity, but it also challenges flutists to improve their sense of pulse, coordination, and technical control – especially within the rhythmic patterns of 2/4 and 6/8.
By incorporating movement, participants will discover how physical rhythm can enhance musical rhythm. Marching with a flute in hand can deepen one’s understanding of meter, phrasing, and articulation – all while enjoying a familiar tune to hum and move along to.

Session Two – Midsummer Reflections
🗓️ 31 July, 7:00 PM (CET)
In the spirit of Mendelssohn’s famous Midsummer Night’s Dream, this session invites flutists to reflect on the gentle pace and bright atmosphere of midsummer. Participants are encouraged to bring a piece of their choosing – a tune that evokes their own feelings or memories of this season.
Whether it’s a favorite folk melody, a light classical work, or a personal arrangement, this session offers a welcoming space to share music and celebrate the richness of summer. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to experience how composers have historically captured the beauty and serenity of this time of year through music.
A Flexible, Enriching Experience — From Home
One of great aspects of this series is its accessibility. With no need to travel or commit to a full-scale course, flutists can enjoy high-level instruction and meaningful musical exploration from the comfort of home. Each session is designed to be interactive yet supportive, perfect for adult learners seeking to refresh their skills, gain inspiration, and stay musically active during the summer.
Both sessions are hosted online via the Galway Flute Academy, a world-renowned platform founded by Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway to support and educate flutists at all levels.
