As the Founder, Editorial Director, and Web Developer of Flute Almanac, Yulia Berry plays a pivotal role in shaping the vision and functionality of the platform. With her unique blend of expertise in flute performance, pedagogy, and web development, Yulia has built Flute Almanac into a comprehensive resource for flutists around the world.
In addition to her role at Flute Almanac, Yulia Berry is also an accomplished e-learning developer and organizer of global events. Her expertise in creating engaging online educational experiences is exemplified by her work with The Babel Flute and Web Flute Academy platforms, where she served as director and website creator. In 2022 and 2023, she organized and technically implemented the Global Flute Convention, an event that set a record as the largest online flute gathering in history, attracting over 400 registered guests and featuring 110 events over six days in September 2023.
Further solidifying her legacy, Yulia Berry spearheaded the first-ever Global Flute Excellence Awards, held in January 2024. This groundbreaking event was met with immense success and global resonance. Flutists, composers, flute makers, emerging artists and ensembles were nominated throughout December 2023 by the international flute community, and 52 distinguished judges from 19 countries cast their votes on the finalists. The support and excitement surrounding the event were extraordinary, with Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway serving as Honorary Chairs. The awards brought unprecedented recognition to the flute world and were celebrated as a monumental success by participants and audiences alike.
Yulia’s background is rooted in a strong educational foundation, holding a Doctor of Music Arts degree in Flute Performance, Pedagogy, and Music Education from the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov in Russia.
She is renowned for her expertise in flute pedagogy, with innovative and effective teaching methods that emphasize technique, musicality, and artistry, along with her unwavering dedication to helping students reach their full potential as flutists and musicians.
