Yulia Berry is an internationally active flutist, educator, publisher, and web developer whose work uniquely bridges music, education, and digital innovation. She has been recognized as an Honored Listee in Marquis Who’s Who 2024, a distinguished biographical publication documenting exceptional individuals since 1898. Yulia Berry is the Founder, Editorial Director, and Web Developer of Flute Almanac, where she shapes both the editorial vision and the technical architecture of the platform. Drawing on her background in flute performance, pedagogy, and digital design, she has developed Flute Almanac into a comprehensive, multilingual global resource for flutists, educators, researchers, and institutions.
In addition to Flute Almanac, Yulia Berry is the Founder and Developer of the Global Flute Excellence Directory, an international, multilingual reference platform designed as long-term cultural infrastructure for the global flute community. The Directory documents flutists, educators, composers, researchers, flute makers, ensembles, institutions, and organizations worldwide, offering a curated and editorially governed alternative to simple listings. Conceived as a permanent professional archive and discovery tool, it serves as a global “Who’s Who” of the flute world and an integral part of the Flute Almanac ecosystem.
In January 2024, Yulia Berry founded the Global Flute Excellence Awards, the world’s first non-competitive international recognition platform dedicated to the flute. Conceived to honor excellence, cultural impact, and contribution across performance, education, composition, craftsmanship, and innovation, the Awards engage an international panel of expert judges and nominees from around the world. Supported by Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway as Honorary Chairs, the Global Flute Excellence Awards have established a new standard for serious, documented recognition within the global flute community and continue as an annual international initiative.
Her earlier initiatives — including The Babel Flute, The Babel Flute Courses, Web Flute Academy, the New England Flute Institute, the All About Flute mobile app, and the First Global Game for Flutists — established her as a pioneer in integrating music education with technology and global collaboration.
In addition to her publishing work, Yulia Berry is an experienced e-learning developer and international event organizer. In 2022 and 2023, she conceived, directed, and technically implemented the Global Flute Convention, the largest online flute event to date, bringing together over 400 participants and 110 events across six days.
Yulia Berry holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Flute Performance, Pedagogy, and Music Education from the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. She is also widely respected for her work as an educator, known for teaching methods that emphasize technical foundation, musical depth, and artistic expression. Her students have achieved notable success in competitive and pre-professional settings.
As a performer, she has appeared internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, earning recognition for her expressive artistry. She is also the author of numerous articles exploring the flute’s relationship to art, culture, and history.
