From July 16 to 20, 2025, the coastal city of Pescara will once again host one of Italy’s most anticipated summer events for flutists: the 6th Edition of the Pescara Flute Festival. Organized by the Associazione Culturale Il Canto del Vento and led by artistic director Marco Felicioni, this festival promises an immersive experience in the world of the flute, combining masterclasses, concerts, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and cultural exchange in the beautiful setting of Aurum – La fabbrica delle idee.
A Full Immersion into the Flute Universe
Set in the historical and architecturally stunning Aurum building, the festival provides flutists of all levels and interests with a rare opportunity to learn from renowned professionals, explore new repertoire, and connect with fellow musicians. Events include:
- Masterclasses and Courses with internationally respected flutists and teachers
- Workshops on early music, jazz flute, circular breathing, and instrument care
- Instrument Exhibitions and a Repair Lab
- Presentations of newly released books, recordings, and scholarly research
- Encounters with Composers and Publishers
- Concerts—all open to the public with free admission

The 2025 edition brings together an impressive roster of artists, including:
- Andrea Manco (Principal Flute, Teatro alla Scala)
- Jürgen Franz (Professor, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg)
- Andrea Biagini (Contemporary music specialist)
- Geoff Warren (Jazz flutist and professor)
- Valeria Desideri (Traverso and modern flute, Frosinone Conservatory)
- Antonio De Angelis, Emiliano Giannetti, Massimo Ghetti, and many others
On the piano, the concerts will be supported by Federico Laudadio, Annalisa Mannarini, and Fabio Monaco.

- Book and CD Presentations, including “Forest” by Stefano Taglietti and “Riflessioni estetiche sul Tractatus de Musica di Girolamo di Moravia” by Valeria Desideri
- Conference “Hugues Riscoperto” – exploring unpublished manuscripts by Luigi Hugues, featuring first-edition presentations by Edizioni Musicali Raiteri and Vigormusic
Concert Series – Free and Open to All
Each evening features a public concert showcasing diverse programs:
- July 17 – “Hugues riscoperto” and “Tra cielo e terra”, featuring Massimo Ghetti and Annalisa Mannarini
- July 18 – Pescara Flute Orchestra with Geoff Warren as soloist
- July 19 – “Grandi solisti” concert with Jürgen Franz, Andrea Manco, and Fabio Monaco
- July 20 – “Gran Finale” with the Pescara Flute Orchestra and Andrea Manco
One of the highlights of the festival will be the performance of Jürgen Franz’s brilliant Puccini-inspired fantasies — based on La Bohème, Turandot, and Madama Butterfly — offering a stunning reinterpretation of operatic masterpieces through the expressive voice of the flute.
The final concert will also host the Premio Angelo Persichilli awards ceremony, which offers scholarships and publication prizes to the festival’s most outstanding participants.
