The 12th Singapore Flute Festival will take place from July 31 to August 3, 2025, hosted at Singapore Raffles Music College. The festival continues its tradition of gathering flutists, educators, and ensembles from across the world for a series of masterclasses, concerts, workshops, and competitions.
This year’s edition will spotlight internationally recognized performers, including Elizaveta Ivanova (Germany/Russia), who appears as the festival’s featured Star Artist. A former principal flutist of the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and now Associate Principal at the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra, Ivanova will perform in recital and lead four masterclasses throughout the event.
Featured Artists and Faculty
Alongside Elizaveta Ivanova, the festival will welcome an extensive list of international faculty:
- Yoshimi Oshima (Japan), former Principal Flute of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, will conduct the Flute Festival Orchestra and perform as soloist.
- Anders Norell (Sweden), Principal Flute of the National Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan.
- Sabina Shu-Chun Chiang (Taiwan), professor at the University of Taipei.
- Jihoon Shin (Korea), Co-Principal of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
- Andre Rocha (Portugal), Principal Bassoonist of the Frankfurt Opera and Museumsorchester.
Additional masterclasses, artist platforms, and chamber collaborations are planned throughout the festival schedule, including classes with Jihoon Shin and Andre Rocha.
Concert Highlights
Several concerts anchor the festival program:
- July 31 – William Bennett Award Concert featuring alumni of the Wibb Bennett tradition
- August 1 – Star Recital with Elizaveta Ivanova, performing works by Benda, Sancan, Hoover, Enescu, Villa-Lobos, Granval, Gaubert, and Mel Bonis
- August 2 – Closing Chamber Concert, including chamber music with flute, bassoon, and piano
- August 3 – Closing Concert: On the Trail of Joachim Andersen, a live concert and four-part film presentation led by Kyle Dzapo, Soyoung Lee, and Shigeko Tojo
The Flute Festival Orchestra will present Japanese folk melodies arranged for ensemble under the baton of Professor Yoshimi Oshima, including Look Up at the Stars in the Night and Silent Eve.
AFF Flute Orchestra (Japan) Debut
This year’s edition will also see the Singapore debut of the AFF Flute Orchestra Japan, a specially assembled ensemble from the Asia Flute Federation. Their program includes:
- I. S. Fujii – Marionette
- B. Koh – Sonata Festosa, Op.17 (arr. S. Edo)
- R. Hirose – Blue Train
The AFF was established in 2008 to promote flute collaboration and development in the Asian region and has since organized 11 regional congresses.
12th Singapore Flute Competition
The 12th Singapore Flute Competition will run concurrently with the festival, with semifinal and final rounds for multiple age categories (Super Junior, Junior, Senior, Open). Winners will be featured in the awards presentation on August 3.

Venue and Access
All events will be held at Singapore Raffles Music College (456 Alexandra Road, Fragrance Empire Building, Level 8). Admission is open to the public with a valid Day-Pass or Concert Ticket. Registration for concerts and ensemble participation is handled via online forms.

Founded more than a decade ago, the Flute Festival Singapore continues to highlight emerging and established flutists, while promoting flute culture in Southeast Asia. The William Bennett Singapore Award continues to honor young flutists for excellence in performance, with support from the William Bennett Tribute Group.
