Submissions
Flute Almanac is an international editorial platform dedicated exclusively to flute culture. We publish in-depth, original content that contributes meaningfully to the global flute community — historically, artistically, pedagogically, and intellectually.
Our mission is to document, examine, and advance flute culture, not to duplicate content published elsewhere or serve as a promotional outlet without editorial purpose.
Invitations for Article Submissions
We welcome original, thoughtful articles on flute-related topics, including (but not limited to):
- flute history and research
- performance practice and pedagogy
- repertoire and literature
- instrument making and innovation
- cultural perspectives on the flute
Articles should offer clear value to the reader and reflect serious engagement with the subject.
Flute Almanac publishes four editions per year:
- March 15
- June 15
- September 15
- December 15
To be considered for a specific edition, submissions must be confirmed by email in advance (as soon as possible) and articles received by:
- February 28
- May 31
- August 31
- November 30
Early confirmation is required to ensure editorial planning and is not a guarantee of publication.
Originality & Exclusivity
Flute Almanac publishes original editorial content.
Articles submitted for publication must not have been previously published elsewhere.
If an article has appeared previously in another language or in a different publication, this must be disclosed in advance. In such cases, the article must be substantially rewritten and may not appear in the same form as the original publication.
Simultaneous submission or publication of the same article (or substantially similar content) with other magazines, websites, or platforms must be disclosed at the time of submission.
Articles found to have been published elsewhere without prior disclosure may be declined or withdrawn.
For long-form features, interviews, or in-depth articles that require significant editorial investment, Flute Almanac may request exclusivity. Any exclusivity terms will be clearly stated in writing before editorial work begins.
Flute Almanac reserves the right to determine whether a submission meets its standards of originality, exclusivity, and editorial alignment.

Flute Almanac offers immediate translation into over 100 languages. Authors may submit articles in their native language.

Editorial Process

- Submissions may be returned for revision or declined if they do not align with Flute Almanac’s editorial standards.

Reviews: Important Clarification
Flute Almanac publishes select reviews of flute-related albums, books, methods, instruments, and accessories when they align with our editorial focus.
Please note:
- Sending physical materials (CDs, books, scores, etc.) does not guarantee a review.
- Reviews are commissioned or approved at the sole discretion of the editorial team.
- We generally avoid duplicating reviews that are already extensively covered elsewhere.
- Unsolicited materials are accepted for consideration only.
Professional Conduct
Flute Almanac is a professional editorial platform. We expect all contributors and correspondents to communicate in a courteous, respectful, and transparent manner.
