Submission Deadline: November 10, 2025
Tampere Flute Fest has announced a new initiative for its 2026 edition, scheduled to take place from April 23 to 26 in Tampere, Finland. The festival is now accepting submissions from flutists of all nationalities who are currently pursuing doctoral studies.
This newly introduced platform is designed to showcase artistic and academic work that bridges research and performance. Selected doctoral candidates will present either a workshop or a lecture-recital that aligns with the 2026 festival theme: Fantasy: From Baroque to Modern.
The festival encourages a wide range of perspectives, including musicological, performative, historical, or interdisciplinary approaches. Submissions must meaningfully relate to the festival’s theme.
The call for proposals is open from September 10 through November 10, 2025. Applicants must submit the following materials via email by the deadline:
- An abstract (maximum 150 words) outlining the proposed workshop or lecture-recital
- A proposed repertoire list (for lecture-recitals)
- A video recording (approximately 10 minutes), submitted as a YouTube link
- A statement (maximum 250 words) describing the applicant’s musical practice and research, and how it connects to the festival theme
- A short biography (maximum 300 words)
Selected presenters will receive full artist access to the festival and have use of a dedicated rehearsal space, technical support, and basic sound and lighting equipment. The inclusion of piano accompaniment and other instruments is allowed, although participants are responsible for all transportation and related costs. The use of electronics and auxiliary flutes – including piccolo, alto, or baroque flute—is welcome.
Tampere Flute Fest continues to expand its reach by offering opportunities that highlight the relationship between advanced academic research and artistic performance.
