The World Flute Society invites flutists, music lovers, educators, and instrument makers from around the globe to gather in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, for the 2026 World Flute Society Convention – a one-of-a-kind celebration of the world’s rich indigenous and folk flute traditions. Set against the scenic backdrop of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, the event will run from July 29 to August 2, 2026, offering five days of cross-cultural inspiration, education, and musical exchange.
A Global Gathering of Music and Culture
From the haunting tones of the Native American flute to the vibrant expressions of world folk traditions, the convention will highlight a stunning variety of flute cultures through:
- Daily classes and workshops led by international artists and scholars
- Afternoon concert series, featuring three performers each day – open to the public
- Evening concerts with award-winning performers and ensembles (tickets available at the door)
- Vendor exhibitions offering handmade flutes, CDs, accessories, and more
The convention theme — Inspiration · Knowledge · Music — reflects the event’s dedication to meaningful cultural exchange and deep musical learning. All convention events will take place indoors at the Haas Fine Arts Center, located alongside bike paths, walking trails, and a flowing river, creating an atmosphere of harmony between nature and sound.
