A moving and memorable concert is set to take place on May 29, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the Gongju Culture & Arts Center Grand Hall, as the Chungnam Philharmonic Orchestra presents its 204th Regular Concert, titled “Time of Love” (사랑의 시간).
This special performance will feature world-renowned flutist Yubeen Kim as soloist in a deeply personal event — the retirement concert of his father, Kim Jong-Gwan, a double bassist who has dedicated over 33 years to the orchestra. The program will be conducted by Principal Conductor Narah Chung (정나라).
The program includes:
- Beethoven – Egmont Overture, Op. 84
- Reinecke – Flute Concerto in D major, Op. 283 (featuring Yubeen Kim)
- Schumann – Symphony No. 1 in B-flat major “Spring”, Op. 38
Reflecting on the occasion, Yubeen Kim shared on his social media:
“Honored to be a part of my father’s retirement performance. He worked for Chungnam Kyo Orchestra for 34 years, and in the last regular performance with the orchestra, I will be cooperating as a soloist under the direction of Conductor Jung Nara! I’m looking forward to more — especially this performance with the Chungnam Kyo Orchestra, which has always been a special connection”
Bringing together one of Korea’s leading young flutists and a lifetime of musical legacy, this concert promises to be an unforgettable celebration of artistry, gratitude, and love — a fitting tribute to a distinguished career and a family’s musical journey.
